What happens when you get a job offer…but it’s:
- Too entry-level
- Too low a salary
- Not quite the right fit
Should you take it? Or wait for something better?
To answer that question, there are three factors to consider:
- Does this make sense for you as a person — i.e., does it align with your values, your schedule, your lifestyle?
- Does it make sense in terms of your goals — will it take you away from the job you’re looking for, or will it move you closer?
- Do you have better options?
So if you want to go into special ed and someone offers you a data entry position, well, that doesn’t make much sense, does it?
But if you get offered a job for an assistant teacher, that’s an entirely different story. It makes perfect sense, even if the pay is lower.
When you’re clear on your goals and where you want to be going, then deciding whether or not to take a job becomes much easier.
